Ans: A Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) recommends promotion to competent authority as per prescribed manner. Establishment Secretary is the appointing authority.

5 What is the criteria of promotion of Section Officers from BS-17 to BS-18 ?

Ans: Promotion to Grade 18 is done from amongst Section Officers of Grade-17 who have :-
a) At least 5 years of service in this Grade-17.
b) Successfully completed probation period in BS-17 and no disciplinary proceedings are pending against them.
6. What is the criteria of recruitment of Section Officers through Promotional Examinations ?
a) FPSC conducts the promotional examination for vacancies reserved for promotion.
b) Examination consists of written (300 marks) & Viva Voce (100 marks).
c) Eligibility criteria :-
All officials/officers (from BS-11 to BS-16) of Federal Secretariat and attached departments, President’s Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Senate Secretariat, National Assembly Secretariat, Wafaqi Mohtasib’s Secretariat, Federal Service Tribunal, Federal Public Service Commission and Intelligence Bureau, having 08 years experience in BS-11 to BS-16 can compete in this examination.
7. What is the normal tenure of deputation of Section Officers in the OMG ?

Ans: Normal tenure of deputation is 03 years, which can be extended for another two years.

8.What is the criteria for appointment by transfer/induction of Section Officers in Office Management Group ?

Ans: Appointment by transfer (Induction) in the Office Management Group is made on seniority maintained on the basis of length of stay of the deputationists in the Secretariat. NOC from the parent department of the officer and consent of the officers is also required, provided the officer has reasonably good record of service including complete record of the ACRs.

9.What type of officers are taken as Section Officers under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973 ?

Ans: Officers belonging to Occupational Groups, Services Cadres are taken in the Group.

10. Who are taken on deputation as Section Officers ?

Ans: Officer belonging to Provincial Governments/AJK Autonomous Bodies/Corporations are taken on deputation.

11. Can the OMG Officers go on deputation with Provincial Government/ex-cadre posts etc. ?

Ans:They can go on deputation with Provincial Governments/Ex-cadre posts for three years extendable for another 2 years.

Dear, whether theses rules / practices are still intact for induction in OMG through transfer posting etc. Moreover can u plz guide me on the issue regarding induction of civilian officers of Ministry of Defence serving in GHQ etc into civil service groups or OMG. whether they'll be subject to Army personnel quota or civilian personnel quota???
