This question was asked several times on this forum so, I am going to reply in detail. This is all you need to know about diabetes and ditching sugar level tests if you are diabetic.

There are two main kinds of diabetes:

A- NIDDM or Non-Insulin dependent: appears usually after 40 years of age and runs in family. Only a very few number of young people gets it around age of 25 and then it is known as MODY- Maturity Onset Diabetes Mellitus of Young. They have enzyme deficient in them which carries insulin hormone which lowers blood sugar level. It is treated by medicines like tablets. After age of 60 some patients requires insulin which means NIDDM turned into IDDM. Less dangerous and can be easily controlled.

B- IDDM- Insulin dependent. As indicated by name life long insulin therapy is required. Usually it does not run in families and appears in childhood. 100 times more dangerous and not easy to control. Due to insulin therapy levels can go toward both direction i.e. hypo and hyper. Hypoglycemia and hyper diabetic comma are common complications on daily basis. One needs to control sugar strictly and have to keep treatment of hypo condition in the shape of juices, sweets etc all the time.

There are two main kind of sugar tests which are usually done in medical examinations blood and urine test. There are other tests as well but they are not important. You have mentioned that you have always failed tests due to medical as you are diabetic.

Normal level of sugar: 70-140
If you want to ditch the test and want that no body get suspicious your level should be around 70-90 in fasting and 70-120 in random test (1.5-2 hours after meals). This is called excellent control of sugar level

Blood Test: It gives exact level of sugar in blood upon testing so your level of sugar should be maintained according to above suggestion . Also note some people who are not diabetic can show a little higher level of sugar as compared to totally normal people. Level will be high but normal say as between 120-140. They are potential future victims of diabetes and it might runs in their family. Examiner can perform a simple test. He may ask you to drink juice. If level exceeds 140 you are surely diabetic and if not you are not. That is why it is important to keep level below 120. Some pregnant women can also develop abnormal level of sugar only during pregnancy.

Urine Test: In urine blood sugar only appears after 180 which is renal threshold and also abnormal level of sugar. Appearance of sugar in urine means you are definitely a diabetic with abnormal levels of sugar.

So you need to ditch test. If your sugar is not in control believe me it can be a obstacle to your work as patients feels lethargic all the time not to mention other complications like DKA, kidney failures etc. Diabetes is a condition and you are prone to many diseases if your sugar level is not in control. If sugar level is not in control, you can get rejection as you cannot perform your work well.

If your sugar level is in control, there is no need to worry as it will never appear in tests and also with normal levels there will be very less complications. That means you can discharge your duties well.

How to ditch tests:
1-Do at least half hour running or brisk walk daily. More beneficial if you can do it twice a day. You can do it on treadmill or on running track in parks.
2-You can do light exercises at home if you can specially in days when test is expected.
3- Strictly monitor your sugar for a while which is 6 times a day. 3 times fasting (before taking meal) and 3 times random (1.5-2 hours after meal). Make a chart of levels. It will help your doctor.
4-Strictly take prescribed medicine or insulin and do not skip your dose.
5- If you are on insulin better take 6 small meals instead of big 3. For example if you eat 1 loaf eat only 2/3 of loaf at meal time and eat remaining portion after 3-4 hours. This way your sugar levels will not abnormally rise. Consult your doctor about that.
6- Remove following foods from your list at least till your final selection and if want to lead normal, long healthy life follow tips for the rest of your life.
a- Red Meat a big no no- Only eat white meat in very small quantity occasionally
b- Take less eggs
c- Say no to sugar and sweets for both solid and liquid products use candarel instead.
d- Avoid carbonated drinks
e- Avoid fast food and bakery items even bread
f- Avoid carbonated drinks including diet ones
g- Avoid rice completely
h- Avoid dates, mangoes, grapes and bananas.

7-Eat only healthy food like loaf, oats, fresh vegetables, fruits other than forbidden but in less quantity, low fat milk and yogurt etc and other foods mentioned in diabetic food chart which you can get from your doctor.
8- Never skip any meals because when you stay hungry your body gives automatic response of low glucose level. It give indication to alpha cells in pancreas which started producing glucagon hormone which is opposite of insulin hormone and is responsible for increasing blood sugar level.
9- I know following this routine is very tough as I am diabetic as well. Sometimes you feel depressed and low. You can lose motivation but you need to keep fighting for your bright future. So, stay motivated and follow this routine until you get a decent job according to your wishes.
10- If you start this routing in timing of medical test then there is a chance you may not ditch the test. For excellent control at least 2-3 months are required to set dose of medicine and insulin and how to adjust it with fluctuating levels and the amount of food you consume.

11- Be in touch with your doctor at regular basis. Consult well reputed medical specialists only.

May Allah Subhan Wa TAllah help you all.
