There was a time when Japan too, had a joint family system like ours; where the grandfather, grandmother and other relatives used to live together. They nurtured their children in an environment of absolute trust and affection, which created not only self-confidence in children but also a mind inclined to positive thinking. They always solved their problems and hardships by working together with their parents and family members, which generated a sense of security. However, as the country continued to advance, people ran out of time for family. The society was strongly affected as Western values started sinking their claws in.
