You can study Criminology without any background. It is not very difficult and the syllabus can be completed in 15 days easily.
As for Ilaw, I havent studied the subject but I have heard that it has not given good scores over the years and sometimes the paper is extremely tricky.

Id suggest, go through the syllabus and past papers and assess what you are comfortable with.
