the group was created from foreign service of pakistan in 1972 as a specialised group in freign trade.
its the youngest amongst the civil services occupational group; thus a small bt steadily growing one.
short foreign visits r frequent.
50 % quota for foreign postings but due to small number of officers, still a large number of seats r vacant.
one is eligible to foreign postig as commercial councillor after gettin promotion in 18.
Maximum number of C&T officers hold foreign degrees and here it surpasses all other occupational groups.
Foreign studies scholarship r availabe in abundace.
A research wing has bn established at Trade n development institute Islamabad- formerly known as Foreign trade institute, where stp is conducted- n officers r encouraged to join research projects n r paid Rs.20,000 to 45,000 as research allowance.
C&T has the honor of establishin the first official THINK-TANk at Trade n Development institute.
no group has negatives as such.negatives r proportionate to one's apptitude.
still, C&T is a highly competitive group. one wanna survive, one has to be highly competitive n consistent.
The clintel, as u mentioned the elite, is educated n one has to earn respect by provin one's worth...
It doesnt let anyone be stagnat n if one insists,it is nt a good group for him.
Its not abt enjoyin the free lunches as may ppl THINK in groups with power...here if u work,u earn respect.u ve to prove ur worth everyday.
it doesnt have nuisance value like PSP or DMG... so not a good place for those who join civil service wid power perspective.
Regards.
