I will not comment on the psychological aspect of it, but one thing to be kept in mind is one should be looking for mistakes or weaknesses in ones armour. However that does not mean blaming a certain test or aspect of it for the cause of it. There might have been a different reason and one should keep the mind open to all possibilities.
It would be advisable for you to go to a local office of the concerned agency if possible and take guidance from any person who is already in service and has been through that stage before you.
Rest assured that the candidates selected for service in this field are of the highest caliber and aptitude with every detail of their personality being judged minutely.
Attaching too much importance to a standardized format of questions when the problem could be somewhere else is a waste of energies. so have a look again, re group, be prepared and when giving the test, just remember, Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.
