The shore is the general term for the area where the tide meets the land. This could be a cliff-face for inatance, where there is no beach. A beach is a predominantly flat area of sand, shale or shingle (pebbles) which is partially covered at high tide.
A beach is made of sand. A shore can be made of rocks, sand, dirt or it can even be a cliff. So a beach is a type of shore.
