If you've decided to opt statistics, then start preparing from today. Because the syllabus is quite lengthy as it includes theory as well.

For starting the preparation check the topics which you might have studied at B.Com,i.e. Basic Probability, correlation/regression and sampling etc. As you might have done these topics in B.Com so you'll easily understand it's theory as well. so first have a good practice of theory and numericles of these topics.

Then start Special distributions (binomial, poisson, negative binomial, hypergeometric and normal) and statistical inference (maximum liklihood, hypothesis testing and ANOVA etc). For this first read the theory and then go for numeric practice.

PROBABILITY & STATISTICS FOR ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS by Walpole is very good book with reference to exam preparation. It covers maximum topics.
