Hello hope you are doing fine and congratulations on passing the written portion its really heartening to see a fellow ravian Pass
.
Well there are are 12 groups in CSS and each group has its own pro's and con's. They say that if you manage to get into anyone there is nothing like it.
The answer to your question has been a topic of discussion here at this forum many a times. There is no denying the fact that the groups you mentioned are considered as the superior groups in css and the reason behind them is the social clout they possess. Most of the influential bureaucrat's you see come from PSP and DMG.
Another reason is that the common man has interaction almost exclusively with these two groups. A common man may never have to go visit the office of FBR, Accounts or any other for that matter.
The real thing is that what one wants from his/ her service. some people opt for Customs as their first choice and with the passage of time we'll see IRS also creeping up the ladder.
I was inducted as AC ITG but subsequently we have been inducted into IRS ( Inland Revenue service ) which basically deals with Income Tax, Sales Tax and Federal Excise. Income Tax officers once used to wield a lot of authority but they suffered a lot during Mussharaf's regime but now they are back in business lol. It is a good position to be in now.

Yup Islamiyat and the total aggregate score as was done with our batch ( css-2008 ).
Just see the marks people are scoring in Optional subjects. in 2009 candidates were scoring 150-188 in Islamic History and now its 70-90.
