dear thnx for sharing the views and of your journey to dhakka
at the moment i wont b adding any thing of significance, except that my father was in a classified organization in 1971, he volunteered to be in east Pakistan.
he remained there for some time nd then they were induced/merged into East Pakistan civil armed forces and fought with the India, he remained p.o.w. till january 4, 1974, alas he passed away in 2003,
he used to tell us that in front they have to face the bullets of indians while from back the bullets from mukti banni, some of his views are ;
actually the problems were there nd politically the situation was not resolved by the successive governments and this was benifited by the india, actually she ployed the same policy as Pakistan tried in 1965 in kashmir, but Pakistan was unable to raise the people of Indian held Kashmir against India on any major ground, whereas India was successful enough to stir up enough resistance from the bengalis
it does'nt mean that Pakistan was not competent, though some incompetence was their which was supported by the ground realities to the India like huge number of hindu population, behaviour of west Pakistanis to the people of East Pakistan etc.
the mukti banni was a banded group organized by the indians under colonel usmani
the weapon were supplied by India and her regular troops entered in the last fortnight of november, 1971. the indian army made great policy and engaged the Pakistani troops from March to November with the mukti bannis and weaked them considerably both physically as wel as provision of weapons + ammunition, though majority of Pakistani troops were having high morals and they fought bravely and on many fronts, fought till their last blood and bullet
all the bengalis were not against Pakistan but after the cruel behaviour of mukti banni many of them thought it prudent to acquiece in
