And yeah, i do agree with you.
While selecting the subjects for my optionals, the teacher at the academy insisted a lot that i neither take physics nor maths or take one of these.
He was suggesting other subjects like geography,sociology, Muslim law,Persian etc...that i have never studied nor i find them interesting. And as you mentioned, i was also afraid i don't have aptitude for them. So, i had opted for these same, physics,applied maths.
But the problem is, there's a lot in physics and especially maths, that i haven't studied before or have gone through a little, just enough that could help me in my engineering. There are no academies that are preparing for these two subjects from CSS point of view.
So i had to face difficulty preparing for them.
And then my observation that people USUALLY do not take these both subjects...i finally made the conclusion that anyone who is going to opt for them, is doing a mistake.
