1) On Monday he said, "My son is coming today."
On Monday he told/informed that his son was coming that day.
2) They wanted to know where he was going the following week.
They asked him,"Where are you going the next week?"
3) He said, "Did she go yesterday?"
He inquired if she went the previous day.
4) 'By God', he said, "I do not know her nickname."
By swearing upon God he told that he did not know her nickname.
5) He says that we are to meet him at the station.
He says," You have to meet me at the station"
6) He said, "I don't know the way. ask the old man sitting on the gate."
He said that he didn't know the way and suggested to ask the old man sitting on the gate.
7) My father prayed that i would recover from my illness
My father prayed,"May you recover from your illness"
8) He said, "How will you manage it?"
He inquired how I should manage it.
