@Dear alihashmat
Aligarh movement was primarily aimed at Muslims' renaissance. It was launched to help Muslims to regain some of their past glory. The reasons for which Sir syed directed Muslims to adopt loyal attitude towards Britishs are justifiable:
1- The outcomes of Jihadist Movements were apparent after the war of 1857, and the subsequent disaster of Muslims is undeniable. This had proved beyond doubt that Muslims were not in position to carry out any such act again.
2- Throughout his life he struggled arduously to reform the social conditions of Muslims. He took great pains in establishing Aligarh institution. His vision was that Muslims must acquire a position in society thereby they could compete with other nations in turbulent Milieu.
3-Though apparently his policy of cooperation with british seemed questionable, but a thorough consideration of historical facts proved beyond doubt that there was a great wisdom and insight behind it. Muslims were lagging behind in all spheres of life; and were also not in position of doing any violence to acquire their rights. In view of this fact, the only option left was but to cultivate good relations with rulers.
4-he did not force the Muslims to abandon Islam or adopt un-Islamic or anti-Islamic practices. In fact, his work of pointing out some sound and good values in western culture reflects his broad-mindedness and moderation in religious affairs. This act, too, was done in pursuance of fostering goodwill in Muslims for britishs and vice versa.
5-considering the fact: British were likely to stay as rulers in the sub-continent and Muslims were unable to oust them from power, There was no other way but to compromise with circumstances. It is an irrefutable fact that those who later on laid the foundations of Muslim league, which fought Muslims freedom movement, belonged to his circle of influence and line of thoughts.
6- It did not want to produce any violent attitude in Mulisms in view of their fagile social position, but stressed that Muslims should develop their own strength to combat the hostile environment.
