I will be applying in ssc 2014-A weapon branch

I have few queries:

1) What are the prospects of promotion for a weapon engineer once the short service period is completed?

2) What is the procedure of checking knee-knocking in the intial medical test?
When I join my ankles my inner knees meet each other but when I am standing normal there is a little gap between the knees.
