1. On 1st June, 2016 Four UN peacekeepers are killed in a suspected Al-Qaeda attack in northern Mali. At least 16 people are killed and 55 injured in an attack on a hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia. Al-Shabaab claims responsibility. The world's longest and deepest rail tunnel, the 57 km (35 miles) Gotthard Base Tunnel, opens in Switzerland.
2. On 2nd June, 2016 The 22nd amendment in the constitution of Pakistan passed from Senate
3. On 3rd June, 2016 Boxing Legend heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, dies of respiratory complications in a hospital in the American city of Phoenix, Arizona.
4. On 4th June, 2016 In tennis, Garbine Muguruza of Spain wins the 2016 French Open by 7–5 6–4 in an upset defeat of Serena Williams.
5. On 5th June, 2016 Voters in Peru go to the polls for the second round of voting in a Presidential election where Keiko Fujimori and Pedro Pablo Kuczynski are the remaining candidates. Novak Djokovic tops Andy Murray to win the French Open men's championship. This completes his non-calendar year Grand Slam. Djokovic is the first man since 1969 (Rod Laver) to hold all four Grand Slam singles titles at once.
6. On 6th June, 2016 Haiti will redo its presidential election after findings of widespread voter fraud in last years voting.
7. On 7th June, 2016 The U.S. Justice Department announces pharmaceutical companies Genentech Inc. and OSI Pharmaceuticals Inc. will pay $67 million to settle False Claims Act allegations for misleading statements about the effectiveness of the drug Tarceva in treating non-small-cell lung carcinoma. 8. On 8th June, 2016 President Mamnoon Hussain gave the approval of 22nd Amendment. The International Tennis Federation suspends Russian star Maria Sharapova for two years for failing a drug test for meldonium at the Australian Open. The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry proposes final names for four new chemical elements: nihonium (atomic number 113), moscovium (#115),tennessine (#117), and oganesson (#118). The Taliban kills 12 members of Afghanistan's security forces who were captured in recent ambushes in the Ghazni Province on June 3 and 5.
9. On 9th June, 2016 Thailand celebrates the 70th anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej's accession to the Thai throne. U.S. President Barack Obama endorses Hillary Clinton for President of the United States.
10. On 10th June, 2016 Gordie Howe, who scored 801 goals, was a six-time most valuable player during 26 years in the National Hockey League and won four Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings, dies at the age of 88. The U.S. Department of Commerce approves service by six commercial airlines from five U.S. cities, including Miami and Philadelphia, to nine international airports inCuba.
11. On 11th June, 2016 American singer Christina Grimmie, best known for her appearances on The Voice, dies after having been shot at a concert venue in the city of Orlando, Florida.
12. On 12th June, 2016 A mass shooting occurred at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, United States. The assailant of the Night Club was identified as Omar Mateen. Around 10,000 people attend a street party in front of Buckingham Palace to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday.
13. On 13th June, 2016 Microsoft agrees to buy professional networking site LinkedIn for $26.2 billion (£18 billion). Fiji's ambassador to the United Nations Peter Thomson is elected as President of the United Nations General Assembly for its 71st session.
14. On 14th June, 2016 KPK provincial budget of Rs.505 Billion presented. Afghan and Pakistani soldiers clash at the Torkham border crossing between the two countries, leaving one Afghan soldier and a Pakistani major killed. At least 22 other people were also injured. Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have grown since the latter's attempts to build a gate at the crossing.
15. On 15th June, 2016 Two years of Zarbe Operation completed. Scientists confirm a second detection of gravitational waves by LIGO.
16. On 16th June, 2016 Switzerland's Federal Assembly votes to officially withdraw the country's application to join the European Union. Labour Party MP Jo Cox dies at Leeds General Infirmary after being shot and stabbed as she prepared to hold a meeting with constituents in Birstall, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
17. On 17th June, 2016 The International Olympic Committee (IOC) upholds its ban on Russian track and field athletes participating in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro due to various doping scandals.
18. On 18th June, 2016 Three astronauts return from a mission to the International Space Station, Briton Tim Peake of the European Space Agency, Timothy Kopra of NASA and Russiancosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko.
19. On 19th June, 2016 In golf, American golfer Dustin Johnson wins the 2016 U.S. Open, his first major.
20. On 20th June, 2016 According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the number of people displaced by conflicts in the world is at its highest level ever recorded, with an estimated 65.3 million people either being refugees, internally displaced or asylum seekers. Solar Impulse 2, a plane powered only by the sun, leaves New York on the 15th leg of its round-the-world journey, a 90-hour flight over the Atlantic Ocean to Western Europe.
21. On 21st June, 2016 Pakistan won against India in the Hyderabad Fund Case decided by the British Court Judge Henderson J. Before the partition of India and the annexure of Hyderabad to India, the finance Minister Moen Jang of Nizam Mir Usman Ali Khan deposited Ten lac seven thousand nine hundred forty pounds in the account of Habib Ibrahim Rahmatullah, the then Pakistani High Comissioner in London. The 35 Million GBP were lying in the National West Minister Bank, now called Royal Bank of Scotland since 20th September,1948
22. On 22nd June, 2016 Renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri was shot dead by unknown persons at Karachi. The National Assembly approved the Federal Budget of 2016-17. India's ISRO successfully launches 20 satellites in a single mission.
23. On 23rd June, 2016 The twenty-sixth Plenary two days Meeting of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), chaired by Ambassador Song Young-wan of the Republic of Korea, starts in Seoul, Korea. United Kingdom European Union Membership referendum took place
24. On 24th June, 2016 The Prime Minister of UK announced his resignation after the Brexit referendum
25. On 25th June, 2016 The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant urges its supporters in Indonesia and Malaysia to go to the Philippines and fight against newly-elected president Rodrigo Duterte. The People's Republic of China cuts communication mechanism with Taiwan after the new government refuses to acknowledge the One China policy.
26. On 26th June, 2016 Argentina star Lionel Messi, who became Argentina's all-time leading goalscorer during the Copa, announces his retirement from international football after the game.
27. On 27th June, 2016 India formally joins the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan writes Russian President Vladimir Putin to offer condolences to the family of the deceased Russian pilot of the Sukhoi Su-24warplane shot down last November. The Kremlin has insisted on a personal apology for months.
28. On 28th June, 2016 The 2016 United Nations Security Council election were held during the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly, held at United Nations Headquarters in New York City. Sweden, Bolivia, Ethiopia and Kazakhstan were elected to Security Council. A terrorist attack, consisting of shootings and suicide bombings, occurred at Atatürk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey killing more than 42 people. Turkish officials said the attackers were acting on behalf of the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant . Facebook’s solar powered plane Aquila completed its first successful flight in Yuma, Arizona.
29. On 29th June, 2016 Voters in Mongolia go to the polls for a legislative election at a time of economic slowdown.
30. On 30th June, 2016 At least 40 cops were killed in suicide bombing attack on police convoy in Kabul. Rodrigo Duterte is inaugurated as President of the Philippines and Leni Robredo as Vice President.
