BPSCs strange moves

hi,
its the first time i ve been on this site. its good to see for the first time news about BPSC. during 2 to 3 years of experiences that i ve witnessed in BPSC is that, it has a strange syllabus, with still more strange method of paper checking (faulty), the paper setting though is satisfactory. But the interview of BPSC is very very pathetic. NEELAAAM GHAR is played in the interview which is the worst thing of BPSC. The interview of CSS is so good and thought provoking unlike the interview of BPSC which is fact oriented and not opinion oriented. Anyways whatever the case may be, in my opinion its still better performing than most of the organizations.

Dear Javed Zehri,

Welcome to the CSSForum. If I am not wrong are you PCS Toper – 2009 and currently serving as Assistant Accountant General, Quetta?

Currently BPSC rely on old syllabus for recruiting Officers in BCS and BSS group, while Punjab and NWFP brought many reforms in this context. Written exam is satisfactory according to my observation but interview is mere a Neelam Ghar as coined by you.

Usually they ask objective type questions e.g. Name the birds which can’t fly, First Noble Laureate of sub-continent, capitals and currencies, equator passes through which countries, news from newspapers esp. latest news, what is Koh-e-Noor, Pea Cock throne, Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty (Name of architect, length, cost etc), what is the resemblance between Quaid and Ghandi and so on . . . .

I think it’s the right procedure to gauge a person for a particular post. These questions and their answers totally depend on one’s luck. Speculation also works in this regards. They should change the procedure of interview and conduct it according to the pattern of CSS, which is more realistic and rational.

Regards,

Asslamulaikum,

I, as a member of Css forum welcome Dear Zehri to the Css forum.

As for as your's and Zia's words are concerned, both of you are completely right. Actually the Questions asked in interview are not arduous, because the Syllabus is mentioned before each subject.
Actually it happens upto the posts of 9 to 16 Scale.
Regarding my perception, I have my personal experience, and the Questions are same as Zia mentioned.
Sometimes they ask about the Academic Qualification, and few Questions related to them.

Regards.

thanx to both of you.
zia u r right i m the same Javed Zehri who topped PCS 2009 but u r wrong that i am still Assistant A.G. I am infact now Deputy Director in a federal Govt Organization. I have recently been posted there.

As far as the issue of interview is concerned then let me add that i ve faced the panel many times, but their embarassing general knowledge questions have always embarassed me. Its so outdated today that for an interview u buy a book of dogar general knowledge and start memorizing it by heart. For god"s sake this should never be this way. Such questions have nothing to do with some ones GK and the post. e.g Why should an Assistant Commissioner know that a fly has either 4 or 6 legs.I dont know when they will start behaving like the members of FPSC.

When i took the interview of CSS way back in 2006, i was expecting the same level questions, but to my utter surprise Gen Jamshed Kayani and his team asked so general but thought provoking questions that i was really impressed from their style.

The paper marking is also faulty. The paper in which u expect 80 u get 33 and the one in which u expect 33 gives u 80. This is not the first time i m witnessing it rather in all 5-6 exams that i ve ever taken in BPSC.

But still, with all this i think its performance is far better than most of offices. we can not get everything perfectly right. But i still think that these 2 issues should really be thought out in future.

Sorry for boring u with the boring topic.....

It’s good to see you among us because you are considered to be a role model for the aspirants of Balochistan. Your outstanding achievements in the different competitive exams is an honor for the province. We request you to share your Marks Sheet of CSS – 2008 Exam, because we have been informed that you marks were terrific except English Composition Paper.

Javed Zehri, I welcome u in the CSS Forum and sir i agree with you that the marking and interview system is not up to the mark. I have also experienced such "Kon banega Karor-pati" questions by the respected members :)

hi

hello mr zehri and nice to have u with us. i would like to share some of ur experiences about the exam of pcs.what i have been doing for the past few months is that i am making notes of the subjects.i go through a chapter and than point wise make notes from my memory and i am satisfied with my progress.i have completly covered indian history II.i wanted to know the method of answering a question in answer sheet.how would u suggest us doing so?

Zirwaan Khan Tuesday, September 15, 2009 03:08 AM

The fault is with the members of BPSC , they have all questions in front of them and the answers are mostly one-word .They even ask silly questions like who is adnan sami and K.L Saigol. The only difference between our commission and kon banega crore pati is that there is not any option or call a friend system...And sometimes they themselves do not know the right answers and we can't argue with them.

AT Javed , it is not boring ,rather worth considering issue.

thanks to all for encouraging me...
infact samadurest ur technique is very good. keep trying.. but luck is afterall the most important factor (i may b wrong, u may disagree).. but to me everything is luck.. but u have to try ur best, becase luck also favours the hard working ones .... infact i deliberately am not telling u any technique,, because i think myself not a master in it plus i have had some really bad experiences in competitive exams, so better u consult a better one than i m.. anyways best of luck...
