Branch Banking set-up:

Each bank has its own set up, and within same bank different branches have different composition based on the target market, area in which they are functioning, client portfolio, and bank resources. However; normally branch set up comprises liability side and assets side. Liability side covers deposit taking etc. Assets side covers credit and loan extending. On the basis of these major functions branches are divided in two main sections:
1) Operation side: Operation manager, account opening officers, cashiers / tellers, remittance officers, locker operating officers, customer service officers, complaint handling officers, compliance officers, ATM operating officers, card issuance officers, receptionist, guards etc.
2) Credit side: Branch manager, credit officers, relationship managers, credit documentation officers, risk managers, SME division, Consumer Division, agriculture division.

Additional Sections:

3) Trade Centers: Import and Export functions (LCs, bill discounting, ERF, post shipment and pre shipment functions etc.).
4) IT Division as a support function: Subject to the volume of branch and bank nature.
5) Finance / accounts division (for reconciliations and other related matters): Again this depends upon the volume of branch and bank nature.
