Calls served two purposes: a) Convince quality resource for posting in any other branch b) if the contacted candidates show disagreement on posting in other than their preferred branches then consider candidates next to them in merit order in order to avoid ratio of decline after offer order because recruitment is a lengthy, time consuming, cumbersome and costly process which cannot be afforded frequently.

Two categories were not contacted:
1) Toppers who will be posted in the branches of their choice
2) Low performers who will not be considered for selection except for those who will be inducted only if contacted candidates decline their offer through telephonic conversation.

Topper means one who has performed very well in both the written and vio voce. Topper in my previous post was with reference to performance in selection process not the performance in last degree/academic career.
