Mass communication's new syllabus seems tough and sociology has always been easy.
In the end it will come down to your interests.
I wanted to opt mass com but its syllabus changed. Then I left it

Did you opt sociology?

Its not really my cup of tea.
It focuses on society and social norms.
I am really liberal so I did not opt it but my sister has opted it in B.A.She likes it a lot.
I opted governance and public policies because it goes with political science well

Go for sociology as I've studied journalism(masscommunication) it requires alot time to study there are alot of jargon and theories which you cannot cover and on the other hand though sociology have theories too but they are easily understandable and is all about our social life.
Best of luck
