Avoid net speak. It is against Forum Rules. Use "you" instead of "u".

I am thinking about the same too, how to start my preparation and from where, though I'm thinking about opting Economics.

On topic, there is no place better to get yourself familiar with everything related to preparation of CSS Exam than this forum, you'll find everything here that's gonna help you in your preparation for Central Exam like choosing your optional subjects, recommended notes and books, CSP's advice and golden tips that will provide motivation and guide you through your preparation, just refer to the appropriate section and you'll find tons of material on what you're looking for :)

None of the academy will give you proper guidance they will alter your mindset. Go and visit FPSC website and go after for syllabus of optional subjects then as per your area of study and interest go for it. Academies usually recommend you those subject which are being taught their. You mentioned that you have studied journalism and economics so download their past papers and check it out that whether they are easily prepared or not. Else you can seek guidance from here.

By now books for most subjects would've arrived in the market. Check syllabus of every subject that interests you and then check its books. Get a feeling for the subjects and then choose keeping your interest as top priority. Start reading DAWN daily from tomorrow onwards (Opinion, Editorial and International pages mainly). Improve writing as much as you can and as one person above said, 2-3 weeks in an academy will get you well-oriented in my opinion. Rest you have to follow the syllabus and do smart study. Although I am not saying that Jehangir's books are of a great quality, but I think we have a short time and they would be helpful (JWT World Times magazine is good too). The internet is also a very useful resource.
