If a person clears all the papers in CSS, does that mean he has got through the written test?

Sure 40 marks should be in compulsory 120 should be in general knowledge and 33 % atleast should be in optional provided you get 600 or 50%total 300 marks in compulsory and 300 should be in optional..you are through

One of my friends told me the he had passed all the papers but his marks are less than 600, therefore he is not eligible to hold this position? So, is he lying?

No, he is not lying. One must secure 600 (50% Aggregate) to pass the written examination. Passed candidate then go through medical test, psychological test and interview. After the final result, allocation is announced according to the number of vacancies. Only allocated candidates go to CSA for training.

Passed in all of the subject but not passed in aggregate. He has failed.

Passing marks for each compulsory subject are 40.
For Optional it is 33.

Then...You have to get more than 50 percent in General Knowledge (i.e 150 out of 300).

It doesn't stop here...

You have to get 50 percent marks out of 1200 ie 600 in total...

It doesn't stop here...

You've to clear interview and psychological test as well...

It doesn't stop here...There are CTP and STP as well...

Then comes the test of Ground realities...haha

Is the policy of getting aggregate of 120 marks in the papers of General Knowledge (General Science & Ability, Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs) is still effective?
Answer:
It is not mandatory to pass GK papers separately. Papers of General Knowledge (General Science & Ability, Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs) are to be passed collectively by scoring 120 marks out of 300.

And what would be the equation to pass if someone get more than 300.like 301 if he gets 20 in paper a or b and 80 in paper b or a and gets total of 301 in optional and sum of 601 .would he be declared pass or he had to get 631 or 650 aggregate?
