No. I didn't even know about it. Seems like a good book to understand Palestine-Israel conflict. I'll try to get my hands on it. Thank you

For CSS aspiration, you should consult"Shahab Nama".

yes.elias khoury has written alot in romance of palestine using his fiction talent.
if you want to comprehend palestine-israel conflict read NORMAN FINKELSTEIN. Two of his books namely 'Image and Reality of Israel-Palestine conflict' and 'the rise and fall of palestine' are purely on the question of palestine.he is an american based jewish scholar banned in Israel. His father and mother were holocaust survivors but he stood himself against holocaust.he wrote books like 'Holocaust industry'and 'Beyond chutzpah' which deeply criticize blackmailing by jewish lobbies in the name of holocaust. He is my all time favourite political thinker.he always speaks with proofs and facts. His books are flooded with references and footnotes.you can find him on youtube also proving his genius in a delicate tone...Further,on palestine issue EDWARD saeed is also a good source to be consulted.

Mine would be "Animal Farm" by George Orwell and "The age of deception-nuclear diplomacy in treacherous times" by Mohamed Elbaradei. (It is also FPSC's recommended book) The latter is essential to get a glimpse over how governments handle stuff, has lots of personal accounts, UN proceedings, US's manner of dealing with dissent and above all, presents behind the scene facts about the events that unfolded themselves in 00's which were, if you are a 90's kid like me, were the events we witnessed in our teen years. (Other decades just seem so far and so mutaliya-e-Pakistan). The book is written very well too. I laughed many times and got all teared up when IAEA and writer got Nobel Prize.

What is your absolutely "must-read" book for css aspirants? It can be from any genre. I will surely read it if not any one else. I am in love with books these days and have a year to prepare for css. Throw away
My recommendations are:
1- Fourty rules of Love by Elif Shafaq
2-Follow your Heart by by Susanna Tamaro
3- Everything that happened to me is good by Geoff Thomson
4- Reclaim Your heart by Yasmin Mogahed
5- Who Moved My cheese By Spencer Johnson

Anthony Trollope was an amazing novelist. He wrote using simple vocabulary but still managed to convey pretty complex ideas to his readers. His characters are very relatable too.I would recommend Eustace Diamonds and the Small house at Allington. If you opted british history these novels would give you an indepth picture of the british politicial and social life in mid nineteenth century.

On the lighter side,if i am sad and want to cheer up a little I usually go thorugh any of Jane austen's novel. And if I am too happy and want to tone it down a bit I go through some of Thomas Hardy's works, which end up in tragedy mostly.

Already did. I don't like it much. Too much humble brag, however this is just personal opinion and yours can differ from mine. Some writers resonate with some readers a little more than others. He seemed to have missed me entirely however I still think it is a good book and a CSS aspirant should read it.
Thanks for recommending it.

@Lunatic Bird
Ok so which one book would you recommend because I can't read all three. I have FPSC recommended books to read as well and those, well if you get your hands on them to begin with, are mostly very thick.

Forty rules of love seems to be the second most recommended book here after Shahab nama and I keep thinking whether to go for it or not. You know what, I'll try to get my hands on it.

I quickly searched your recommended books on goodreads and I put all on my read list except for number 4. However I couldn't help but notice that they all come from somewhat similar genres. To know oneself and finding a place of oneself with regard to universe and be at peace about it. Last one seems to be about leadership.
If you absolutely, absolutely have to recommend one of these, which one will you say is a must for css aspirant.
Waiting for your reply.

I have to say I am thrilled to meet all of you. The eclectic taste is fascinating. It can only give a glimpse of how many different persons with different set of minds, attempt this exam. NICE!

So I suggest
1)The adventures of Huckleberry Finn
2)and the adventures of Tom Sawyer
3)Mark Twain's Helpful Hints for Good Living: A Handbook for the Damned Human Race
4) The Invalid's Story (it's a short story)
There was another that I can't quite recall... So maybe later!

Now off you go!
Huckleberry Finn is the sequel to Tom Sawyer. Is it necessary to read the Tom Sawyer first to comprehend the sequel?
