only 2 % candidates passed CSS 2016. Plausible Reasons
 

It was very surprising and disappointing to know that only 2 % of total candidates passed CSS 2016 exam. At this point some questions need to be answered
such as.
1. What could be the plausible reasons for this low passing percentage?
2. How future CSS aspirants would motivate themselves to go for an exam where stakes are very few?
3. Does low passing percentage mean that, CSS is losing it charm? As bright and intelligent students have other options with more incentives.
4. Do we need to change the pattern of CSS exams as currently it is not fulfilling its purpose?
5. Is there something wrong with the marking system?
6. Do you thing this low passing percentage would adversely effect the morale of future candidates and some of them or many of them may go for other options. and leave CSS altogether. As why to spend so many time ( a year or two) for a position where success rate is very low.

Please Kindly share your views in the light of given questions. How you view present situation and what is your take on it?

I have 47.8 percent marks in graduation under annual examination. Second division is mentioned on result card. Punjab university award C grade to 50 percentage scorers. 47.8 percentage gets D grade. Am I eligible?

I would recommend you to go for masters and work hard improve your percentage.

yes you are, grades and percentage doesnot count, its only division that matter for eligibility. You must start preparing now and work hard to get better of yourself.

Masters from punjab university will be even more disastrous, he should start preparing and in October, 2017 he will be in better position to decide that whether to go for CE-2018 or not.

neither it is surprising nor it is disappointing,

result is same like 2-3% passing every year..it is the policy as there are limited number of seats so they scrutinize the exams and declare the result for most promising, mature minded and capable aspirants. by this they are giving jobs to cream of Pakistan only..if this gets implemented in all over Pakistan..just imagine people occupying seats are all on merit and the public will be served better.

Definitely civil service and government service both have considerably lost attraction due to disparity between wages/salary and inflation...private sector is providing better opportunities to employees in both salary and allowances but government service still has two thing that keeps it above all and they are job security and pension.

CSS is going fine and we have to wait until India changes / revises her syllabus so we will do that on the following year.

Marking is definitely strict enough to fail most of aspirant especially in English and I dont understand why the English teachers all over Pakistan donot give full marks when there is no mistake in the content...

No I donot think that current year's result will bother anybody except who appeared in this exam and they are hardly 0.005% of total population...meanwhile the people who remained in bureaucracy/ politics / Armed / securities forces and other authoritative position have already relocated their families or have chosen other professions for their kids like medical, engineering or businesses..these were the people who had power to change the current structure and to bring reforms to better Pakistan and standards for public but sorry to say they are not interested.

if it is long process then people should boycott it..this is not an ordinary exam and here you are competing to represent government nationally and internationally and to solve the problem of public and to enjoy perks and privileges of civil service.
