Which is a better platform for CSS? Help needed urgently!!!!
Hi,
I am currently working as an MTO in a prominent Bank of Pakistan. However, I never wanted to be in Banking from day 1 and wished to see myself in the HR or Marketing department (Please note that I am an MBA in Marketing & HRM). In fact, due to my father's wish, I landed up there. I belong to a family of CSP's and other Government Servants and perhaps, I am the only odd man out. I have now realized that my future lies in Government Service, in General and to be specific, CSS. I have just come across an opportunity of Assistant Director at LDA. While my main aim is to do CSS, being a married fellow leaves me with no other option than to keep a job till I clear it. The opportunity at LDA is contract based for three years (which may be regularized in future). Authorities and pay scale are that of BS-17, i.e. Approx 30K. While at Bank, my gross is 37K almost and net is 32K. My employment nature is permanent (but you can well understand the permanency in private sector :D). I need guidance from senior members and CSPs what should I do at this point in time under such circumstances. With the aim of CSS, should I go for the Assistant Director thing or stay at Bank? Which would be a better platform for the preparation for CSS and provide me a better chance? I am looking forward to give a try in 2011. Despite the fact that my only advantage at this time is age, I am still not backing down as I never have backed down from any challenge. I am also attending Academy sessions for the preparation. Is Academy really helpful or does self study is a better option to prepare? Senior Members and CSPs, please help and reply ASAP. I am really looking forward to it. My elders have given a mixed response and your opinion would definitely make a difference. Looking forward to your valuable opinion. |
LDA may provide you better platform for CSS preparation in terms of time. Academies are source of direction but onus of preparation rests on candidates
