In Css exam, 80% luck matters as i also experienced in exams consecutively 2014, 15 and 16. I agree with the reality that hard work and grasp matters a lot in qualifying and competing with thousands of Intelligent Aspirants every year. Css syllabus is not that about rocket science and mathematically concerned but it is about what happening nationally or internationally around the globe. This is how you reproduce answers which attract attract the examiner and this is about how you disappoint as well. Every year many more Learned aspirants prepare for the exam but mostly able cannot crack it, does it really mean they are not eligible for the exam or they had not prepared for the exam? It really does not mean. After a lot of efforts, element of Luck comes. Here how Luck works after hardwork.

Personally, i do not agree with the thing that tukka matters. It is all about your preparation and hardwork to crack in the competitive exam. yes, in Mcqs portion, Tukka does work but not in Questions. Individuality matters @Bilal Hassan

I am yet to attempt the exam (hopeful of attempting and clearing in 2018) so my opinion is probably not worth much but I do feel the element of 'luck' plays quite an important role especially when it comes to the two English exams.

I have seen people getting 70+ in English Précis in one attempt and flunking in the very next. Then there are people I know who have cleared CSS but have very mediocre English.

The way the exam of the two English papers is set up from the syllabus to marking criteria it would be safe to say that it's nothing less than a joke. There's literally no consistency which makes the entire thing questionable (not hinting at any illegality but flaw in system).
