Concerned with Syllabus

Dear all,

I am a new aspirant for CSS examinations 2013.I have done some of my home work and am in the process of selecting optional subjects for my Examinations.

I will be obliged if someone can answer my following questions regarding CSS examinations:

1. I wanted to know if all the questions in the paper are from the syllabus given of a specific subject (Specially optional subjects) or there can be questions from out of the syllabus too? and are the suggested readings by FPSC are enough for their preparation?

2.Should we write memorized answers to subjective questions or answer the questions in our own words?

3.Somebody has told me that its enough to memorize 4-8 questions of a given subject and thats what toppers have done while preparing for CSS. Is this a true and dependable assertion?

4.How to prepare for the Essay paper? Need some guidance in this regard.

5.What is the importance of remembering exact dates of Events in Subjects like Pak Affairs, Current Affirs , IR etc? Can we mention only the year instead of a Specific date?

I hope any of the senior members of the forum will take time to answer my above mentioned questions.

I will be obliged for this Favor.

Regards

That someone has to be a person who appeared and passed those examination to answer your questions rightly. However, as a serious candidate I would try to answer your questions.

In fact it is a very general syllabus. Read as much as you can on those topics is only i can suggest. Besides, i have a general sense that fpsc would not accept any of its paper out of syllabus. (please seniors confirm this)

Memorization means ratta, and 'our own words' mean comprehension and originality. you can easily choose which one is more demanded.

If it was so dont you think css would be much easier? for views of toppers you can explore their interviews shared in the forum.

Essay does not have a syllabus. Solve past papers and get them checked from a senior. Explore Essay section, and Tips and Experience sharing.

Sometimes exact dates are asked in the objectives. That means two things
1. it is not the requirement for subjective portion (since its tested in objectives)
2. it is part of syllabus to remember the exact dates so reproducing it in subjective portion a plus point.

But I emphasize more on 1st.
