I am new here . Actually i have just passed my engineering and now have job offer having pretty much good package . And for css preparation i think i have to skip job and must do a prep for 2014 attempt . But i am totally confused :-( . My father wants me to do CSS , whether it takes 3 attempts but then what of my engineering degree ? :S

Dear Ishtiaq

I know what sort of confusion you would be going through.

You have a professional qualification annd you should not waste it just like that. CSS is a prestigious service and yes any ambitious person should try it. At the same time do not take a chance with your profession.

If you are being offered a job you should join that and start working. You plan to attempt CSS in 2014 so you have about 16 months to prepare. Keep preparing with the job. If you are focused then it is no issue preparing alongside a job, and you can do it that way aswell.

See its going to be your first attempt so you never know if you will be able to make it or not, though we all pray that you get through in first attempt. God forbid even if you are not able to do it in first attempt and you are working as well. Then you will have about a years's work experience with you, you may leave the job then and prepare for next attempt without a job. Once you have taken the next attempt then you may again find a job with your prior work experience. If you donot do a job right now and keep preparing till 2014 and then you wish to find a job after such a long break then you will have issue finding it.

CSS is alot of hard work and then a good bit of luck. Also that you are from punjab the competition is very very tough so sometimes you end up being successfull but still without allocation. So, in my opinion you should not loose on the professional opportunities that you get alongside the preparation of CSS.

My word is that you join the job, start your preparation alongside the job and take the 2014 attempt this way. With your educational background you need to give 3-4 hrs a day of focused study every day for the next 16 months and you stand a good chance of doing CSS

A number of CSP'S have done their study along with job. This is an old question and have been asked here for many time. Being an engineer you should have no problem to pursue your study along with the job. As well as your another question, whether you should join or not?. Brother, every year from number of fields aspirants appear for CSS. It is the most prestigious exam of pakistan; rest depend upon you.

Although I'm not an engineer but still I'd advise you never to quit your job as putting all your eggs in a single basket is never a good option. You've more than enough time to prepare for the exam so it would be better if you concentrate on your own career along with Css.

Every picture has two sides ; one dark and other one shiny.
Same is the case with other professions and civil service.
It is you who has to decide whether to go far css or for engineering which is inevitably better in the context of opportunities. While, css is considered a game of luck.

Anyway, i wish you best of luck for all your future endeavors.

Default Go for CSS

Dear I am a recent pass out Chemical engineer and doing job as well preparing css but kia btaon yar no time for preparation. Here u have to decide to go to job or css. And being an engineer if u will start searching job as an engineer after a year or two years then it would be no problem for getting it( if u technical sound or have a reference) i know many engineers who got job 2 - 4 year after their degree.

In interviews if they asked about where u spend your years and one can say that i was preparing for my css/pms.

I will suggest you if you have no financial problem then go for css, test your Luck and best of luck.
