I have read all the posts. Guys, conversation done so far is not making any useful sense. Nothing has been chalked out as a plan for study. I am also preparing for CE-2014.
Still improving my English and GK by daily Dawn reading. (Main emphasis is on vocabulary building during Oct 2012). And then I have plans to start concentrating over improving writing skills - "writing style, context building, improving sentence structure" etc all from Nov 2012.
Well I think English and GK are the subjects we would need to keep under focus for whole of the year. One month start up preparation (Oct-2012), and then I think we should start subject wise preparation, starting with compulsory subjects first. (No need to retype that English and GK would go hand in hand with all other preparation).
I have plans to opt Islamic History, Muslim law, Sociology, Public administration and one more yet not decided subject.

Another thing.. from all successful CSP's, I have always heard or read one important point to go through CSS. They always suggest "Proper Guidance", inter-alia, as one of the most important ingredient of success. Pls seniors guide us that what does this "Proper Guidance" mean? and how to get it? Especially people who don’t have contact with any CSP or have not joined any academy. How should they get thorough guidance? What kind of guidance is this - necessary part of achievement?

@ Guidance: please seek guidance from some one who 'really' wants to guide as i was misguided by some CSP officer, so i hope we all should discuss and use our brains to make it to the best..
Good luck!!!
Thanks brother for your nice suggestion. What subjects would you suggest for a new aspirant like me. besides, what do you say about sociology and muslim law? as both of these remain low scoring this year.

@ Saadia Hussain,

Me too going to start right now, in Oct, likewise. Thanks for sharing your study plan and motivation. But I am doing a full time job as well. Which makes my time bracket short. Worried all about essay preparation. Can you please guide me about where to start and how to execute the prepration, taking into account the fact that i am average in english.

@all
Passing CSS in first attempt is not an impossible thing. What you need, to achieve your goal, is complete guidance about css examination, selection of optional subjects with care, self-motivation, hard work with full devotion, determination, and prayers of your parents, friends etc., to achieve your goal. I appeared in ce 2011 to taste css as I had no idea what css is. There was none in my surroundings who could be my mentor, or I might get inspiration from him. Like bilal bro I too studied just for a month, still I was able to pass all my papers securing a total of 523 marks. For precis I did not study as I had extra ordinary marks in English in my univ exam and was able to secure 55 marks in css. I did not appear in ce 2012 as I got inspiration after my result was announced in Nov 2011 and that was too late. I will InshAllah appear in both ce 2013 & ce 2014 consecutively.

Need your prayers.

Regards

@ Mr bhatti

for improving your English, there is just one formula, read, read and read alot. when you read newspaper or anything underline the words which sounds unfamiliar to you,first contextualize them and then check their meanings in dictionary. that would really help to improve your vocabulary (this worked for me).
