Eat, drink and be merry and only a happy person can top it

You also need to throw your attitude, and act humbly..

Though I am not a qualifier even, but my two cents as per my experience:
  • DON'T rely on academy notes. Try to consult those books which are recommended on FPSC website for each subject. Then make your own notes from those books as well as from academy notes & online resources.
  • Develop a habit of thorough study instead of doing selective study. In other words, try to become a scholar or think tank .
  • Stay focused & directed while studying. Most of the people sit for 10-12 hours continuously but their actual learning time is less than a few minutes or an hour at most. During the remaining time, they just waste time in non-productive activities & make themselves more & more exhausted & depressed. In other words, they actually follow "look busy, do nothing" approach.
  • Practice writing a lot! Try to write down what you learn during the day. Some people try to make notes from online sources by copy pasting. This is simply useless. No matter, how good the notes are, they aren't going to help you unless you write them down yourself.
  • Try writing essays in fixed time & then get them checked from your fellows or from any expert, if available. It is not only the grammar that matters but the coherence & flow of the essay is equally important. I failed essay miserably & got 55 marks in precis & composition. This happened because I was unable to manage time during the exam & also my essay lacked coherence & smooth flow of ideas. I actually never practiced essay.
  • Before attempting any question, make a rough or even fair outline of your answer. Consider each question as a small essay having outline, headings & then a conclusion as well. Also before putting down your thought on the paper, imagine for a second about what others might have been writing & what you have to do to make yourself stand out of the rest. This technique has helped me a lot & I have got really good marks in whichever paper I followed this rule
  • Try to develop a sense & liking for analyzing your environment, society, nation & the events happening around the world. Also try looking beyond the surface of an event & learn to analyse & then differentiate between facts, realities, fiction/propaganda etc. Finally reach to a sane, unbiased & balanced conclusion of your own. This will help you in C.A, P.A, rather for all the subjects because, I believe current affairs are involved in all the subjects.
  • Be humble & polite in your approach but, DON'T RELY ON YOUR FRIENDS & STUDY PARTNERS. What they do is none of your business for if they pass, they won't offer you their seats & if they fail & so do you, none other will have to take the responsibility except yourself, in the long run. It will be useless to cry over the spilt milk in case you fail due to your study partners, for after 2-3 years, no one will remember that who were your study partners however, people will remember that YOU failed CSS exam.
  • Always maintain a sense of playfulness, humor & take things lightly or else such hectic study will get over your nerves.
  • Drink a good amount of water daily.
  • Lastly, keep Plan-B & even Plan-C ready in case you are unsuccessful.

Best Wishes,
Sarrial

Agreed. Rather that should be a daily practice instead irrespective of the motive.

Thumbs up @ Miss Sania

Aoa,

Subhan'ALLAH. Quite good tactics are being shared by the members.

As far as my humble opinion is concerned plus so far I have learned from honorable seniors and CSP's, one should work hard and get in love with the subjects and there is absolutely no short cut for success.

Being an aspirant, one is supposed to leave his castles of comfort and devote all the time to study. Nevertheless, reading and doing written practice more, enriching your knowledge from more books and at the end practicing from past papers can certainly make the difference.

Drink a glass of water before you start study, what it does it actually activates neurons of the brain. So you can acquire more in a sophisticated manner by dint of it.

Serve your parents, indeed, their prayers can take you beyond your wishes and desires in here and hereafter. As mentioned earlier, prayers should be offered regularly. Recite that prayer which our beloved Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to recite for his knowledge enrichment: Rabi Yas'sir wala tu'asir wa tam mim bil khaeer, rabi zidni elma ya fat'tahu (then recite darood-e-Ibrahemi). Make this your habit and always start your study after reciting said prayer. You'll get help from the glorious ALLAH, IAT.

Best of luck remember me in your prayers.

Profound regards,
RMKamran.
