please seniors comment on this am I eligible to apply for css 2016 or not as my dob is 23-04-1987

Yes, you are eligible for CE 2016 but not for CE 2017

By CE-16's cut off date (31st Dec 2015) you'll be 28 years 9 months 8 days old and not eligible to take CE-16... However if you can claim age relaxation then there are chances for you.

By CE-16's cut off you'll be 28 years 1 months 7 days old and over age for CE-16... so not eligible without age relaxation claimed..

Both candidates are not eligible for CE-16 as they both are over-age for CE-16.

Brother I didn't calculate their ages properly but just used CSS age calculator and replied. This is the site where that calculator is available, I don't know is it right or not.

AoA Dear, that calculator is misleading...

Use this one...

Enter DoB in Date of Birth section and "cut off date" of that particular CE-Exam in Age at the Date of section(i.e For CE-16 cut off is 31st Dec 2015)..

If the age calculated is less than 28 years than that candidate is eligible for CE-Exam... If its over 28 years even by 1 day, then he is not eligible.

However, when age relaxation is claimed the age limit will be 30 years..

CSS Rules say:

"...and not over 28 years on the cut-off date..."

Now, are you sure that 'not over 28' means by days and months? Could it not be years?

I'm also saying the same thing... not over 28 years means not even 1 day over 28 years... as when you attain 28 its all over...

This is for ce15 add 1 year to each figure for ce16
CUT OFF DATE FOR DETERMINING
THE ELIGIBILITY
2. The cut off date for determining the eligibility of the candidate in terms of age, qualifications, domicile, etc., is 31st December, 2014.
AGE-LIMITS
3(i). A candidate for admission to the examination must have attained the age of 21 years and not over 28 years on 31st December, 2014 (i.e. a candidate born on or before 31st December 1986 and on or after 2nd January, 1994 will not be eligible), except the candidate falling in the categories mentioned in Rule-3(ii) where any candidate born on or before 31st December, 1984 and born on or after 2nd January, 1994 will not be eligible.
