Assalam O Alikum!
What do you think which is better if one is going to live in Pakistan?
PhD or CSS.

Left my Mphil-PhD Indigenous Fellowship for CSS. If you really have an interest than go for it.Not otherwise...

One thing I want to add that. A sound Technical person is more useful to the nation... I always aspired for better technical horizons but finally realized that if I have to live in Pakistan respectfully and securely, than CSS is the only option...Sadly...Otherwise it's better to leave, learn and return...

Default No regerts.

Agreeable Rameez bhai and one thing more while knowing historical trends of 2-3% success in the sense of ultimate destinations called allocation, one must be mentally so prepared NOT to regret on anything if not allocated. I left offer from Nestle in 2012, then offer of NSM from Altaf and co in 2013 after completion of one more year for CSS or the same cadre things. Now society tries its best to ridicule while we spend our own resources time, money and job, but one who is self satisfied people cannot embarrass them except for transient moments and there comes a time of super saturation and we even do not take those obnoxious remarks to our head. What really matters is a matter of our preferences one gives; wealth or prestige, ease or difficulty.

Agreed with Rao Rameez. I would further add that doing PhD from Pakistan is useless, if you have to do a proper PhD which will have value then go abroad to a western country. If you want to live in Pakistan, an engineer or doctor or professor or researcher/scientist has no respect or good life, you have to opt for CSS. Chances are very slim in CSS, so don't take it very seriously, I mean prepare well but don't expect too much and keep your professional field at primary importance. In case you don't make it into CSS at all, then its useless wasting life and your mind here, go abroad, earn good, learn good and return good.

I agree with you. But keeping in mind one thing would always make you on a more pragmatic path than being mad for something that is sometimes impossible. CSS has the lowest ever ratio in comparison to any other national or international exam. 2%, 200 out of 10000. Doing MPhil would at least give you an edge to do something when you fail CSS three time, MAY Allah never do that to you. But, again who knows and many aspirants are left stranded in a land of no go. So it is better to be in something that is a bit safer. After that exploit your chances of CSS.

You sound logical to me in your aim. You won't lose anything if in case you don't make it. But if you clear css it would just be like 'WOW really.'

Css is better than any other job in Pakistan. But again i am saying that it has the least success ratio. So Go for CSS. If it won't prove successful for you then you better go for PHD. You are on a safe side as you have completed your education and secured a safe job.
