When to start preparation for CSS?

What should be the stretegy if you are short of time to prepare for the coming examination?

You will decide to take the examination next year which is an incorrect response. You must avail the coming chance anyhow owing to two reasons.

Knowing that you have very little time left, you are liable to put in extra hard work. This might click and success may knock at your door out of the blue.

Even if you fail, it matters little. To take an initial step is the most important thing. You have gone through the experience of taking CSS Exam and you have learnt quite a lot about it. Out of the three chances the first one that you have availed should be considered as trail chance. The second attempt will then be your target chance. The hard work that you have already put in is carried frontward to the next year which can send your merit through the ceiling provided you continue to work hard regularly and consistently.
If you don’t follow this advice the fear is that next year too. You will be wavering and dragging your feet in taking the first step. You will again get closer to the examination and suffer from the same excuse of being short of time.

Adopt this “Trail and Target” strategy for the preparation of the examination even if you have plenty of time at your disposal.

Where failure in one attempt would discourage one and make him/her declare that "Im just not CSS material" You have presented us all with a very positive attitude in case one has to go through the ordeal of all three attempts. All hurdles should be viewed as stepping stones and thought of as lessons to learn from.

@ Waqar

All subjects are equally important. You can`t mark any negligiable. Essay and English are usually considered as hard nut to crack. Consequently, Most of candidates could`nt get through coz of these subjects. Hang on, Other Compulsory subjects are not like a piece of cake but they have pre-planned syllabus atleast.

Let`s come to Optional subjects. You should pay heed to your academic subjects which are well grounded in your mind. They seek for alittle concentration. If you`re weak on them then you`d bear tough time for high persistence. I think, Following Optionals are less time taking :

1. Journalism
2. I.R (coz of CA analogy)
3. Sociology

Moreover, You can choose any History subject. You can accoutre yourself for above subjects with in 1 month.

Just keep in your mind that It is the matter of "Do or Die". You must try to cover Compulsory subjects at first. Guidance is mentioned here. You`ll be bound to pay 10 to 12 hours a day. You must park yourself for apposite hours.

I`ll append further stuff as soon as possible. I can`t accomplish it coz paucity of time.

Take care,
