Exclamation Special CSS Exam

By now most of you would have heard about Special CSS exam. At first glance it seems a nice opportunity, but a deeper look reveals that things are not that simple as they seem.
Of the mentioned seats, most are those seats belonging to minority quota, and another chunk of seats only belong to women quota; little remains for open merit. So there isn't much incentive for many aspirants to waste their precious CSS chance for few seats that too of lower groups ( OMG, CTG, POSTG, IG )

If government decides to take exams on same quota basis then it won't solve their problem since aspirants belonging to minority quotas pass in very few numbers and their seats will still remain vacant. On the other hand mostly serious aspirants who are well prepared will opt out because of lack of any lucrative offer.
A better policy would be to either convert these to open merits ( for whole country or just provinces), or to remove chance counting for this particular exam, or both. So that more people get attracted to give exam and fill the remnant seats.

Yes, it looks like that there will be hardly any PAS, FSP or PSP seat on open merit. It means merit for OMG or any other group will be high so why would anyone take their chance in this situation?

But at the same time Sindh and Balochistan have many seats, it is a good chance for them.

Any updates about the special CSS exam? Is it even possible to conduct two exams: one in November or December and then the regular one in February? If it happens, it doesn't seem to be a good idea if the attempt will be counted.

We should focus on our preparation and wait for official announcement of FPSC; only that could answer every doubt with surety.

Default How is it possible to conduct Special exam?

I dont think that there will be any special exam. There are certain reasons behind it:
  1. The biggest reason is FPSC's request to the federal government to introduce Screening Test because FPSC is receiving more applications than ever and it cant conduct test of such a huge strength.
  2. FPSC is short of workers to conduct the big exams as FPSC has time and again asked government to increase its budget so that they may recruit more employees.
  3. Due to this lockdown FPSC has postponed all of its exams. Therefore just after lockdown fpsc will have alot exams to conduct

Looking at these all facts i dont think that it would be possible for FPSC to conduct an other special exam. Lets see what happens

The decision is shrouded in mystery; none of us knows what FPSC is going to do. However, the speculation that FPSC may not count this as an attempt is out of the question.
But there's an opportunity for those preparing for 2021. I would recommend that you people adjust your plans as if you were taking the so-called special exam in December. You will be able to appear in it if it suits you; if not, you will have plenty of time for revision & practice till the 'regular' exam.
Best of luck.

The previous posts regarding the special exam have been informative and confusing. FPSC will have to reiterate a number of its benchmarks, like the age limit cut off date, adverstisment date and the number of attempts per candidate. Apart from this, FPSC might also be considering to relax the upper age limit, as well as the benchmark. Considering the exams are to be held by the year end.

If the special CSS exam does take place it will be to fill vacant seats that have been carried over for various quotas. The reason they get carried over is because not enough candidates to whom the quota applies pass the exam. Naturally the seats that will be filled will only be for the occupational groups for which there are vacancies.
If any of the quotas do not apply to you then, as has been suggested by some of the previous respondents, you should concentrate on sitting the exam as per the schedule in February, 2021.
