I'd suggest you to read the sticky threads in the beginner's section and in the Tips and Experience Sharing Forum. After that you'll have an idea of how things work in CSS and what should be your roadmap of going through all this.

Next, before finalizing your every step, use the search button on the top green bar and read out the relevant threads. There's so much posted already e.g. before finalizing your optionals search for the past papers and review them. Similarly once you're done with selecting optionals then try to find the tips etc. on the specific optionals, almost every thing is there already all you need is to be a little organized and a little smart to handle the information overload.

As far as the notes are concerned, it's suggested that you prepare your own notes. This will give you a lot of confidence and command over the subject. Besides, there are many notes available as well.

Trust yourself and work smart Insha Allah you'll get through without the academy.

Regards
well just to elaborate what has been said in the above post i tell u my experience of using this website
before written i did this,,, as has been suggested read all the threads in the beginners guide and at the same time keep them saving in relevant folders in your computer,, then decide ur optionals and if necessary take advice from members available on this forum,,, after deciding optionals read the threads specific to your optionals and save them too in ur computer,, also read all the threads for compulsory subjects too and save them too
finally read all the saved threads and jot down important points on pages so that next time u need not to refer to those threads on computer or this website
all this exercise took me two weeks
before interview,,, i grew smarter and just got the print outs of all the threads in this website,, around 700 print outs,,, and read them too
by this u ll get to know a lot,,,,,,, just give some time in reading the already available stuff and then u ask anything u like to

and for the academy thing.. i've decided to find some good notes + prepare some of mine and study at home instead of going to academy.

be blessed all!

My friend your decision is appreciable. Academy is spoon feeding, if u prepare yourself you will get more ability and confidence rather than those who just passing out with the help of spoon feeding and by using past 10 years papers.

Assalam Alaikum
Thankyou so much for the guidance provided by each of you. Now i feel much confident that i am not alone and you people will be helping me till the completion of my CSS tenure.... I am very positive that InshaAllah i will be a future CSP, with the blessings of Allah Almighty, support of Prophet(PBUH) and guidance of you people.
I have made a strategy plan for my work, its just to discuss with you people that now i am just focussing on compulsory subjects... first i will grasp English and Essay... in parallel i am also studying Current and Pakistan affairs... so when i will develop much confidence over these subjects then i will move to general science and islamiyat.... i have selected optional subject as well but havnt explored them much till now.
Is this Plan works cz actually syllabus of CSS is more like that of FSc as we have to learn much and write long answers... totally different from my four year bachelors degree program... cz here i jst have to write two to three lines answer, thats y i thnk that i shd make a proper and streamlined schedule to appear for CSS. Do Pray for me...

I am very grateful to all of you for guidance and help....

Thanks
Regards
Tahira

Here is the address of Mr. Mazhar's Academy

House No 331
Sector G-10/1
Islamabad

Its near to G-10 Markaz on main Swan Road (the road linking G-9 Karachi Company to G-11).

however i suggest the members to prepare themselves at their own.

Well, I'll speak for myself and the thing is that planning is good but it is not necessary that you would be able to stick to your plan. My plan was to get done with the compulsory subjects first. After EDS, I started Pakistan Affairs and with Pakistan Affairs I started History of Indo-Pak as they were much related. When I was over with these subjects according to the plan I should have reverted back to the compulsory subjects but I did not and instead started preparing Constitutional Law and International Law just becasue they were more interesting and new for me as well so I wanted to have some peace of mind by getting done with the subjects I considered important.

The thing is that you don't have to worry if your plan experiences some change in the middle. It's OK, the purpose should be served and that is to get done with all the subjects with enough time remining before the exams to revise them.

However, the individual subject should not suffer, preparation should be complete upto your satisfaction.

I hope this makes some sense

Regards

so i think confusion is now over.

moreover i would suggest that if anybody want to improve his composition or essay then he must go to sir Mazhar but if anybody want to get suggestion about optionals and some tricks about css question papers then he must go to sir Fida shah because he has good CSPs as his faculty members and as everybody know that he himself is a record holder of 20 years.

so u people must think before selecting any academy
Today I confirmed in National Officer's Academy Karachi Branch. Sir Fida is still working with this Academy and Sir Mazhar is owner and Essay teacher of this academy. They are working together, and presently Sir Fida Shah's posting in Rawalpindi as an ASP with special duty assigned by IG Islamabad. In vacants Sir Fida Shah take classes in Karachi campus.

Assalam-u-Alaikum to all

Both Mr. Fida and Mr. Mazhar have their seperate academies. (confirmed)
Have a look at Rawalpindi/Islamabad newspapers for their adresses.
sab paisay ka khail hay (its my own judgment after visting almost every academy)

Sir, Rawalpindi Punjab may aata hay and is supervised by IG Punjab not by IG Islamabad, I think ASP working in Rawalpindi have no concern with IG Islamabad.

hye...studyin urself..or goin to an academy..hmmmm..well i did it all by myself in a very short span of time..and if a person like me can do it..than i guess every one can...the trick lies in selection of the optional subjects...u have to get that rite..essay is an elaboration of ur thinking into words..for that read the newspapers and same wud hold true for current affairs...though i'd advise u to go for those current affairs journals as well..and every day science is a piece of cake..shudnt take u more than 7 days to cover it all up..islamiyat..come on guys..we have been studyin that since i dun know when...and pak affairs..like hmmm...hope u got the point...anyways..then we have the optioonal ones...select the marks scoring subjects and then put ur foot on the throtle..i'd suggest those 20 question guides as well..they really help...and plz dun go to the academies..its really not worth it..just use ur own brains and it wud all come to u.. hope i was of some help..stay happy ppl and keep smiling.
