Default Regarding CSP Allocation
@ seniors only

What happens if you pass the CSS exam but the government fails to allocate you within one year?

Do you have to give the exams again next year? (keeping in mind the age limit that sounds like you have to be lucky to get allocated even after clearing this exam.)

Or do you get carried over automatically to the next allotment without having to the give the exam? (sounds fair compared to the above scenario).

There is no bar on the commission as far as time period is concerned. The commission and establishment division may take more than 1 year to allocate candidates with respect to their positions.

Yes, indeed in some cases people have to appear in the next exam. But this happens with those who are not happy with their positions/ expected groups or those who are at the border line at the merit list and are not sure if they'll make it to the final allocation list or not.

No this never happens. Even if one has passes the written and then the viva section but fails to get allocated due to unsuitability or due the fact that one was below merit, one has to appear again and pass both section i,e Written and Viva to be considered again for allocation.
