With or without a master's degree?
I am 22 and hold a 4-year honors degree. Currently, I am associated with an NGO and want to join civil service. Can anyone suggest me whether I should go directly for CSS or earn a master’s degree first? If I go ahead without having a master’s degree, will it have any adverse effects on my results?

@ Kazim
U are welcome to css forum. Hope u will enjoy ur stay over here. It is good that u should secure a masters degree too to increment ur knowlwdge. But it would be more appropriate if u go for css option coz u are already doing a job. Another rationale is that u are 22 of age, so masters degree ll dawdle some more years of your age. U can secure masters degree alongwih css. A bachelors degree holder is allowed to appear in exam of css. No doubt, lack of masters degree wont impact badly ur result. Anyhow decision would be purely yours. Stay with us Regards

Certainly decision is purely yours....
Master's degree can broaden ur knowledge but it is not required as many Groups are allowed to get studies leading to award of Masters' degree after joining Civil Services like Customs & Excise; Income Tax etc. Waisay i tried my luck for css without having a Masters degree and after some time got admission in M.Sc. Pakistan Studies programme of open university explicitly to increase my knowledge for the css.... u can think for it as one can pursue education for this course alongwith the job as well as with preparation of css....

Mr Kazim
Welkum to the forum.Well i know a lot of colleagues of my csp brother and my freinds too who are just bachelors and got positions in top 50 of css last year.I would rather advise you to give more and more time to CSS preps instead of going for any Masters.THE RATIONALE would here be that how many jobless Masters are we having at present in our country and also day by day the competition would get more and more difficult. So dont miss your time just cuz you are 22.Just sit and get engrossed into preps,for masters would take more time and without any guarantee for job,but ur preps in that short time even being bachelors would put you at the service of your country at the hell hell helm of affairs. And also,Interview panel is least concerned whether you are masters or not ,but what have you brought forward in your written att4emp. Thats it as put comprehensively. Regards |

@Kazim
You're righly guided by all members. I'm also of the opinion that masters degree expands your knowldege but it has nothing to effect on your result. You can qualify for CSS exam without masters degree. And impossible has rightly said that even you can go for the degree along with the preparation of CSS. Regards,
