Dawn is enough. Read it online or buy it, whatever you feel comfortable in.

Regarding dawn
Quote:
As far as way to read is concerned i think the portions of newspaper like, main page, editorial page and international pages are of muh importance. Reading newspaper will enhance your vocabularly, comprehension and making simple and complex sentences alongwith current affairs. Its upto you dear whether you feel comfortable reading at the page or at computer screen. Best of luck.

There are mainly two reasons you will read Dawn.
1) Improving English (Vocabulary and its use, style of writing and sentence structure) 2) Looking at what is happening around the globe and in Pakistan (News, articles, editorials) If you are reading Dawn for the 1st purpose, then I assure you that one copy of Dawn is enough for the whole month. You can learn thousands of new words and their application, hundreds of sentences with beautifully carved structures and style of writing in just one copy. But if you are reading Dawn for the 2nd purpose, then you need to keep intact and cannot afford to leave it to the Sunday only, as sometimes it will be difficult to keep pace with the amount of events happening around at the end of the week. If still you wish to read Dawn on Sundays only, then you need to supplement your knowledge of Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs with debates on TV channels and books like for instance Contemporary Affairs and other such magazines. CSS is a huge game and quite technical as well unlike other exams of Pakistan. Always assess your skills, requirements and resources before you take any step. Best of luck. |

Specify some.
PS: I hope your list wont include local private 'masala' channels. |

There is a special reason for that. It is a state owned Television channel. They never talk against government so whatever ideas you generate are very safe to present in CSS. Here on PTV they raise the issues in a very light and polite manner. 2) Now you can watch the conclusion of some programs on ARY, Geo, Samaa etc. This will help you to critically evaluate and you can give views both in favor or against an issue. These channels are totally opposite of PTV. Both make a very good combination. About magazines, they are excellent source to know the view point of different people and give you more dimensions to think of. As you have asked about international magazines, The Economist and Time Magazine are two excellent magazines. They're the best and they hire prominent authors around the world to write on topics and try to provide audience with an unbiased view. Do not confuse Current Affairs with Pakistan Affairs. These magazines will help you in Current Affairs only because they concentrate on global issues. |
