Question HEC equivalence - is it needed?

I have a foreign degree. Do I need to attach an equivalence certificate with my application, as the css rule says:

(iii). The matter as to which foreign degree is comparable and
equivalent to corresponding Pakistani degree shall be decided by
HEC. Therefore, an equivalence certificate issued by HEC may
be attached with application form.

Does the, 'may be attached', mean it is not compulsory?

I would be grateful to the good people of this forum if they can clear up my confusion over this. Thank you

Hello,

I find myself in exactly the same predicament, not sure whether I need to get my foreign degree equalized from the HEC. Did you get to know whether this is indeed compulsory, as some have suggested?

If it is so, is there enough time to get the degree equalized from a HEC regional office(mine is Karachi), given that we would need to submit the online application form alongside the documents by the end of October? Or do we have to submit all the hard documents by the end of December? As you can see, I am horribly confused at the moment.

I wish I could actually help you. But I am not even in Pakistan yet, but I have sent my documents to get an equivalence made (Lahore). I did not do an online application, I printed the paper application and filled it in. Also I recommend you might as well get your O-levels and A-levels done with your degree, better to be safe than sorry. From what I have heard equivalence can be made in a day as well, you just need to get to the regional office with all your documents and application form.

Equivalence would be needed I think. There are two methods to get your foreign degree equated.
Either go to Islamabad and get it done on the same day at the HEC office
or
Get all your documents together, checked/attested by the concerned officer in your regional office and send them along with a Rs 5000 draft to HEC Islamabad. Then you have to get in touch with Mr Asim Hussain (sasim@hec.gov.pk), he is a good person and will get it done for you. You will get a provisional equivalence letter via email and Mr Asim will ask you to request your university to email him that you were a genuine student and graduated from there. After that he will send you the final Equivalence Certificate. This whole process can take about a month. If you have done O/A Levels, then equivalence certificates from IBCC are also important.

I hope this helps.

Thank you sir; since I am still waiting for the O and A Levels equivalence from IBCC, I think I would need to visit Islamabad to get this done in time. If it can be done in one day, that would be great. Thanks again.

You can get equivalence through nearest HEC Office and should attach it with application form.

I think equivalence from IBCC cant be done in one day. Its urgent procedure requires at least three days. Equivalence of HEC may be faster than that.

Regards

You're Welcome
Yes, I think you need to get on it.. Don't forget, you have foreign qualifications but this is Pakistan

As far as IBCC is concerned, they usually send your equivalencies to the BISE office where you submit the case. But maybe you can make something out of it if you pursue it in their office directly.

Can someone please show me apart from degree's equivalence certificate requirement where it's written that equivalence for O'level and A'level would also be required? I couldn't find it so need help in this regard. Thanks in advance.

O and A levels are considered as foreign qualifications so their equivalency certificates are a must. I have also done O-Levels and provided my Inter Board Conversion Certificate (IBCC) to FPSC.
