Default CSS with Job

I am 27, one last attempt at CSS. Currently working from 6am to 8.30 pm (includes the traveling time to Kasur and back). With such over drained hours, am unable to squeeze out anything for prep. I only get weekends off.

I don't know what to do. Am facing this dilemma whether to quit a good job for CSS. If you ask my preference, first is to be a CSP officer, second get a PhD and join academia. So technically am not exactly benefiting from the corporate job except for money and filling in my time with work experience.

I dearly want to quit my job because every single day is a reminder that am one more day closer to killing off my dream for something I don't even believe in, corporate job. But am scared and fearful of the uncertainty after my last CSS exam, what am gona do then. Find a job ? Sure, but when will I get it, no one know, if am lucky, maybe next week or maybe another 6 months, I don't know and this is what is scaring me and holding me back.

I have thought about it a lot, did research, talked to people. They all say quit it if you really want it. Thing is I really do want it but the uncertainty and the odds now considering only 4 months are left, don't know what to do.

Based on evaluation from reputable CSS instructors, I have been advised that I can do it. That I understand things analytically and can form an opinion. But then again, with CSS there is no guarantee.

I have come to a point where I want to take a decision. Indecisiveness is a killer and I feel it every day. Don't wana drag it any more.

So here I am, pouring everything out. What I would like is to hear back your opinion and ideas on it. It's the different perspective that can alter your decision and thinking.

Thanks for reading this all.

Thumbs up Screw your courage up!

My dear fellow. Believe me, you have the potential to pass the exam of CSS. How? How did I get to know it? Your desire. Your desire and courage; your dream and most importantly your own words go thus: Based on evaluation from reputable CSS instructors, I have been advised that I can do it. That I understand things analytically and can form an opinion. But then again, with CSS there is no guarantee.
So, you have a dream ahead, Your dream is worth achieving and worth sacrificing. Quit Your job and gird your loins to achieve your dream.
CSS is no doubt a game of luck. But it's also true that luck favours the brave. Remember the words of Paulo Cohelho's "The Alchemist" which goes on thus that If you want to achieve something, the whole universe conspires to help you out.
We are here. Select your optionals. Follow the study plans. Polish your writing skills. Ask whatever you have questions in mind. Study late at night burning the midnight's oil. You will surely get your dream.
One more thing, God forbids, if you are not able to pass this exam at your last attempt, don't be shaky. And you shouldn't feel sorry then for not passing this exam. The reason is that you tried your best to do the best. But you couldn't do so. Feel proud that at last you tried to fetch your dream. Remember, this was the same message that is given by Paulo Cohelho in "The Alchemist".

Hi, for me your post is really heartening. I am married with two little kids. It seems like right now I am passing through toughest period of my life. I work online under strict deadlines and pressure. So basically, I am doing one full time job (of managing my family, in-laws etc-etc) another full time job (online work is not easy, trust me on this, especially when you little ones have taken this huge responsibility of constantly disturbing and distracting you!!) and studying for CSS. I have given my first attempt, waiting for result. This is my last chance, reason same as yours, 27 years age limit.

But I believe that I can do this, I can actually crack this exam.

I would not suggest you to quit your corporate job. Although I don't know about your financial position, but, whether you are able to pass through CSS or not, you will need this job to finance your PhD. I would suggest you to be realistic. Let's see how things are unfolding. Trust me, unemployment is very pressurizing. Just imagine, your bank balance (if any!!) quickly thinning and nothing to back on.

Try and manage your job with your dreams.

Thank you all for writing back.

Special thanks to Mubashar and Hinas for understanding and the motivational insights.

As for my decision, am still leaning. I know considering the time limitation, it's not advisable but am questioning myself too much. Hinas is spot on that unemployment is pressurizing, been there. Wish I had a family who could support this cause too. For them staying on job is of prime importance. And the only thing I'll achieve whilst staying on job is to kill my dream.

Can the entire CSS prep be done in 3 months, rationally ?

I am quitting my job for CSS. It will be my 2nd attempt. Jo hoga, daikha jae ga. I dont want to live my whole life with regret. I will have another job insha'ALLAh, but i will not get time and age again...what i believe is do whatever you want but with full passion and devotion.

You have 4.5 months in your hand. In this forum, once i read full plan of preparing CSS in 4.5 months to get 750+ marks(can't remember the name of member)... i think you should consult that...search for it on this forum

Last thing, do "Estakhara"...

Wish you best of Luck. May ALLAH help you in every sphere of life.

AOA

You can do it, nothing is impossible for a willing and determined heart.

If you can take leave, then take leave and start preparation otherwise quit the job and devout your time for preparation of exams. After taking exams, you can re-start/find new job or go for further degrees because after actual exams, its a time taking process till declaration of final result.

Good luck

@ Clouth
If I had to solve this dilemma, I would have quit the job. That's how I decide for myself, my opinion solely.
Anyway, I would suggest you to do ''Istikhara'' first and then decide.
Best of luck. May Allah be with you. Ameen
