Score varies from subject to subject as optional subjects give better score than compulsory subjects.Secondly there is scoring trend science(high scoring/low scoring) that creates uncertainty.
Personally I don't think there is any specific formula for it.You need to have the following;

~Analytical approach
~ Originality
~Striking expression
