I have done Civil Engineering from UET Taxila in 2014 currently doing job at Bahria isb. I have more like a craze for Civil Service. I need guidance from seniors about
1.) I have scheduled my preparation to start in July 2015 (owing to some personal & family reasons) and am confused about whether to appear in 2016 or 2017? Starting in July doesn't mean I will not go near books in these days. I actually want to build foundation in these 3,4 months by reading Dawn, JWT and some suggested English Grammar book. (as I have ample time in office to read)
2.) I stand at almost zero on C.A & P.A, so if I appear in 2016, can I manage easily to cover these two? (I know it depends on my own aptitude but expert opinion can be useful)
3.) Kindly suggest me books for English grammar, precis & comprehension.
4.) I don't want to just pass the exam. My aim is to be among top 10 atleast. So is it advisable to appear in 2016 with just 7 months preparation?
5.) What is suggested strategy to read Dawn, JWT and Grammar?

I apeared in 2014 with at least nine months preparation and now I think it was less. If you want to be in top ten then put in a bit more harrd work and appear in 2017. For grammer go to relevant thread and you will find more than manageable guidance. May your wish come true. Stay blessed. Regards

Well thanks a lot Sir.. did you get allocated or not.? and i think CSS isn't just about hardwork.. You need amalgam of hard work & smart work. Neither of the two alone can make you successful..

Well brother go for wren &Martin for grammar. For precis practise buy precis book by Dhillion. I think 15 months to 2 years are sufficient

In wren & Martin you should cover topics like nouN, pronoun, adjective upto interjection. Then you should read active and passive voice and direct-indirect. After than read precis, comprehension rules from it.
The time mentioned was about css.

My friend I did not even clear written, what to talk of allocation. Smart or hard upto you. Just work

Seniors may guide you better in this regard, but as for as Dawn and JWT concerned, these are imperative tools to trigger your ability with a colourful theme and I think only trick works for this that is "self confidence"
