Yes, there is a restriction when it comes to the use of ink. The papers should be answered/written in either black, blue or a combination of both the inks.

Check out the rules for CSS 2015. Section 12 sub section xxvi of the rules states:
"Candidates must use blue or black ink only in their Answer Books otherwise Zero marks may be awarded".

For CSS 2015 rules: http://www.cssforum.com.pk/css-dates...ss-2015-a.html

I hope that helps.

@MehreenDhanani: You can use ball pen, pen, pointer etc. You just have to follow the rule regarding the usage of only the prescribed inks.

Despite the rule is given, we are not bound to use ink pen. Instead, we can use pointer, ball pen or whatever we deem easy for us.

P.S: I would use pointer

Pointer also runs on ink bro. . The point being, the rule nevers implicitly directs anyone to use only the pen. Ball pens, pointers, markers and all type of writing equipment utilizes some sort of ink.

I also wish you best of luck for exams.
