Towards Pakistan by Waheed uz Zaman is great for Iqbal's political thought.
Jinnah by Hector Bolitho for Jinnah...
I.H.Qureshi for Cogress Rule and political development of sub continent from 1935 to 47.

Dear, Books of Pakistan Affairs by Ikram Rubbani and Pakistan Affairs by sohail Bhatti are enough for preparation.you can also consult Militray and Politics in Pakistan by Hassan Askari Rizvi.
Also see different treads in Pakistan affairs section.you will find other worth reading books as well.

if you want an in-depth analysis of the post-partition era ...then i will suggest constitutional and political history of pak by HAMID KHAN. this book has no parallel...especially one chapter the last one in which all the problems of pakistan are discussed must be read.

I would differ here as well as Ikram Rabbani's book is concerned.
Brother I have read and followed that book even made my notes from that book in 2010.
I have found many errors of dates and names in it.
Moreover the analysis of the writer is not up to the mark.
It is an easy book but not at all of standard.
When I was told all this , I compared the book taking the side of it.
But I was let down by the book.
This year I studied "Trek to Pakistan". It is indeed a highly standard book.

i agree with you for errors. There are errors in the book but its is wrong to say that book is not of standard. I don't know what is your criteria of standard book but as per my small knowledge i would say you should take guidance from all these books if you need extended and detailed knowledge or research;

K.B Saeed
K.K Aziz
K.B. Saeed
I.H. Qureshi
Hassan Askari
Waheed-uz-zaman
Jamil-ud-din
Philip Cohen
Safdar Mahmood

However sometimes candidates say it is difficult for them to study from many books as i mentioned above so they need 1 book which could cover all aspects then i would say there is a good choice if somebody selects Ikram Rabbani's book. It depends how one takes the book. I would'nt agree on this perception that book is not of standard...

I agree with you that it is a valid book for beginners and is easy.
But brother as competition is getting tough and tough and
more analytic , so one needs to follow a book which develops opinion prudent and expression elegant.
Expression is not up to the mark of any of the books you mentioned other then this.
Neither its substance and material
are comparable with them.
Therefore , one should invest more time and energies but should come up in competition prepared .
This is not exam to be passed, but to be excelled in.

That's true and no one is kid these days to use only one book but i mentioned in my above posts that candidates who demand one book they should consult this. I have read trek to pakistan as well, it doesn't cover all the stuff required in Pak affairs. Opniions are self decisive and arguments are developed by you through several readings. However expression-elegant work can only be generated by candidate not by author of the books. Information is same in all the books, its you who will make the difference in paper.

Let me know how you rate the expression-loaded books and substance-oriented???? if all above books are not of your standard and expression-loaded

I never denied this.
