History of USA by Majumdar and Srivastu is a good book in this regard, covering almost all the important topics in an easy way. A pocket history of USA by Henry Steel Commegar may also be helpful.

brother,

i am in process of buying books for css 2012 these dayz.In one of your previous post you advised to go for pocket history by henry when one have enough free time.so i am in a fix whether to buy pocket history or not.furthermore apart from majmudar i would be preparing from internet.so in this scenario would you advise me to go for pocket history?

and yes my schedule for preparation is already very strict.

and kindly share special advices with respect to U.S history if there are any.

lastly how much marks one should expect from this subject?i think you got 71 or 73.thanx in advance

well if u have started prep from now u ll get ample time to cover History of USA along wioth other subjects. First of all just go through the book of Majumdar, like a novel reading inorder to become familier with the subject. in this way u ll find it an intresting subject and easy one. Dont pay much concentration to the dates in the very first reading, just keep the order of Presidents in mind.

you have internet, so no need for Henry's book, Majumdar will be enough along with internet topics.
Regarding maximum score.....i think in between 70 and 75/80. The poaper in which i scored 73 was one of my best paper.
this link will help u too.

i think mujamdar book is more then enough for U.S history as it covers each and every aspect, important for paper...plus keep an eye on american economy through any american magazine easily available on internet..moreover their foreign policy towards pakistan and their approach to fight against terrorism is also very important from exam point of view....

and encarta Cd is available in market...u can buy it from any cd shop for not more then 100 Rs...but i personally never hard that this sort of any CD helps in papers but yah u can Google any topic to add some spice and make your answers different from others...
