Seniors please help me in subject selection.

I have done bachelors in commerce and now doing masters in commerce and I am in 2nd semester. I want to appear in CE-2016. I need help in subject selection.

I have chosen following four subjects
History of USA 100 marks
Philosophy 100 marks
Business Administration 100 marks
Psychology 100 marks

I need help with rest of 200 marks.
Do not want to take accounting and auditing because it has always been a tricky and risky subject for me. If I choose Economics, micro, macro,Pakistan economy and managerial economics was the part of my syllabus in bachelors and at master level. I do not have a master degree in this subject. I do not perform well in mathematical and graphical subjects but I do perform very well in theoretical subjects.
So I am left with two options political science and international relations.
I do not have background of any of these subjects. Which one is easy to cover and have scoring trend?
Apart from that kindly check the four subjects I have chosen so far and tell how is my combination? Should I go for It?

You have no choice except to opt eco or international relations(200) and replace philosophy With int law or public ad/governance.

Listen to the first lecture of IR from VU lectures. It will give you an idea about the subject and its scope.

I have listened the first lecture and I have got the idea about the subject.
Is it a scoring subject?
How much time is required to prepare this subject?

I have already chosen business administration so cannot chose public administration. Business administration is easy for me and I am familiar with almost all the syllabus. Just need to revise the concepts.
I have no idea about international law. Suggest me a high scoring theoretical subject from group 5 or 6.

And I have gone through many past posts of international relations and political science. Every one is discouraging to attempt the both subjects. Which one is better choice?

What about accounting and auditing?
I have bachelors degree in it and I am doing masters in the subject. I have studied financial, cost, advance accounting, business taxation and auditing briefly in bachelors. Can a person who does not hold a master degree in the subject attempt the paper? What do you say?

Then go after the past papers. Read them and you will come to know that IR deals more with the issues globally and regionally where as Political Science concerns with the theories. If you have a hold on the current issues and acute interest in it, can analyze those issues and their economic and strategic implications, you can score. I think specifying time for IR will not convenient as it is of 200 marks. It must be prepared just like Essay and English on regular basis till revision. Atleast this is what I have planned for IR. Yes, the theoritcal part of IR can easily be covered in a month and a half with full dedication.

I have heard that it has low scoring trend.

Syed Ali Hadi Saturday, May 02, 2015 11:02 PM

Yes, because this subject has its own taste and language. All question asked in the paper consist of words like "Analyze or Critically analyze" which means from a defense and strategic analyst point of view. Many aspirants lack because of this point. In order to overcome it, study some research paper and policy papers of think tank to get the actual in depth analysis of an issue.

Auditing/accouting is not a gud option in your case And you should select 200 marks subjecf either i.r or eco. You can opt gender study from group 5.

Gender studies is a new subject for which I will have no guiding person or material. Law subjects are subjects which need cramming. I am not a crammer. I write on the basis of my understanding in my own words. Although the scoring portion of philosophy has been eliminated still one can score 70 in it. At least I can get guidance from seniors about that subject. I have downloaded few of recommended books and I have found it pretty interesting. I think It is a rational choice.

I have choice of only two theoretical subjects of 200 marks which are international relations and political science. They have a very low scoring trend. Hardly anyone has crossed 50 and CSS is all about fetching good marks for merit not about passing. So I think they are not rational choices. About accounting and audit it is a scoring subject. With good practice one can get around 170 marks in it if one solves numerical questions rather than theoretical questions. I have gone through past papers of last 5 years.Except 2014 paper I was able to solve the other 4 papers without preparation.Paper of 2015 was easiest of all. I have already studied 75% portion of this subject in B.Com. Like financial, cost, advance, audit and tax. I think with a good practice on daily basis till exams I will be able to solve the paper excellently. I have arranged a private coaching for this subject specially managerial accounting as I have not studied this portion in B.Com. I think I should practice it on daily basis just like English and Essay. In Sha Allah I will get through this subject with good marks. I am weak in the subject because I have not practiced this subject. I have not even given attention to the subject in examination days. Attempted the paper without preparation and passed cost with 80 marks, audit with 68 marks, tax, financial and advanced accounting with marks in ranging from 60 to 70. Not bad without preparation.
Economics is I think worst for me as compared to accounting and audit. It also have mathematical portion and graphs which are even worse for me.

Your further suggestions are needed :)
