Well, you have to invest some time then to get better idea about subject combinations and their marking trendings. First go the syllabus uploaded on fpsc website, after going through sylabbus then come on this website and check all subjects indivudually to have a better idea. Everyone has different aptitude and preferences for subjects, so go for subjects you find interesting and easy rather than relying on other's choice and preferences. After all this, then you will be in a better position to get better guidance from seniors which can be to the point and productive for you .

You have to select one subject from any group of your choice. You cannot select two subjects from the same group. Total marks including compulsory and optional are 1200. Compulsory subject covers 600 marks. And optional subject also covers 600 marks. So from all the given groups you have to select subjects in order to complete 600 marks whether you choose 3 subjects of 200 marks each or 6 subjects of 100 marks. I hope it is clear now.

you have to choose one subject from group to make a total of 600 .No two subjects can be opted from a group except in case of maths (pure and applied maths)
