Well how was your experience this year?

As per the court order, we will have the option of attempting the paper either in Urdu or English. But yes, we will have to prepare for the compulsory subject of Urdu.

The experience was amazing, even though I could not complete my preparation owing to an unfortunate event, which resulted in below average attempt. At first I never wanted to touch another CSS book ever again, given the emotional rollercoaster the 7 days of examinations are. But now I know what my shortcomings are, why I will not clear the exams, so I'm better prepared to take on the challenge for 2018, Insha'Allah.

No, it is not. FPSC has not yet issued a notice for the change in Subjects and the syllabus for the new compulsory in 2018. So yes, we have our fingers crossed that it takes FPSC a long time to actually implement this court order.

Will you please give us your expert advise to go through in way that you are going to sail through. Your diction in words, itself tells that you are going to make it. What is your education background & you are from/domicile?

Which subjects did you opt in your 1st attempt?

That's good and best of luck for your second attempt

Well, I disagree. Geography was a 200 marks subject. It's reduced to 100 now. It's a bit technical and you have to memorise a couple of graphs in it. I think a candidate having masters in this subject should opt it and rests should not. Plus, all of the 200 marks subjects are not worth opt except Indo-Pak History because FPSC has made weird changes in their syllabus.

So far I. R and I. L are concerned, both are very good optional subjects. I myself belong to the business administration background. But, I do no think myself good at numbers. Plus, I figured it out that same amount of hard work for Accounting won't help me in other subjects. But, the same hard work will definitely help me in C. A and essay. FPSC has asked many questions directly or indirectly from I. R in other optional subjects.

Make a wise decision.

Good luck.

Stay blessed.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Yes, I am comfortable with Accounting. Business Administration wasn't my choice owing to the lengthy syllabus, and that too for mere 100 marks. But I will rethink.

I have already prepared for Gender Studies, and found excellent material on it. As for Indo-Pak history, again given the changed pattern of Pakistan Affairs this year, I might get myself into a redundant subject, don't you think?

IR is the gold-standard optional for CSS, I might have to drop Accounting for it.

Thanks a lot, appreciate it.
