It is my first post. I want to seek guidance from the experienced aspirants about subject selection. Is here anyone who can address my query pertaining to subject of 200 marks. Pls guide me which is good and safe selection for CE-2019 i.e. I.R. or Pol. Science. Kindly highlight all the aspects of said subjects.

Hey. This is my personal opinion based on the syllabus and the courses I've taken in IR and Political Science. I have not yet taken the exam so maybe others will differ.

IR is more general, and its concepts are more easily found in daily life and the news. It helps with Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs, plus helps you with your essay.

Political Science is largely more theoretic, with a stronger foundation in philosophy and state systems. At least paper 1 is more focused on reading thinkers, e.g. Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau.

IR is more popular than Pol Sci — most of those who have studied neither in their Bachelors/Masters prefer IR. It is also shorter, I think.

The only disadvantage is that you have to work harder to stand out in IR since more people attempt it and bring the average quality of answers down. In the 2017 exam, a lot of well-prepared candidates did badly in IR for this reason.

See how much time you can give the subject, and skim some readings from both before you find what fits better.

I overthrown syllabus of both subjects, it looks like political science is lengthy subject as it also covers one iR one of its part

IR is much better, easy-to-understand and shorter than Political Science.
Being a Commerce Graduate, the subject is a new box for me with 0% background but, after going through its past papers, i found it quite Helpful in Current Affairs since it Overlaps large portion of Current Affairs.
