Optional selection for electrical engineers...

Need suggestions for optional subjects I’ve done bachelors in electrical engineering..I’m confused whether I should choose physics and IR bcoz I’ve heard physics is low scoring and also I feel it’s kind of dry subject and I’ve no background in IR but I’m interested in it.. other than this I’m interested in US history or European history or Islamic history and culture from group 4,criminology, gender studies, Muslim law and jurisprudence and sociology.
Can someone suggest me which subjects I should choose..

I am not an Engineer but have many close friends who are and appeared in CSS & PMS. You heard it right that Physics is low scoring as most of them had good overall score but very low score in Physics so they changed Physics in their next attempt. If you are confident enough you can opt Physics, as I have seen people scored good marks in subject considered low scoring because they had good command over it. But if you are shaky about Physics and have interest in IR, then IR is a good choice too.

I didnt had any history subjects but as far as I know US history have brief syllabus but have been on hit list of examiner in CSS since last few years. It will be better if you wait and see the scores of this subject when the DMCs are uploaded here. Indo pak history has huge syllabus but a good subject if u have interest in it. Again, totally depends on your aptitude. I have no idea about Europeon history, so cant guide you there.

Criminology and Muslim Law are in same group so you can opt only one. Among these two, Criminology is clearly a great choice as compare to Muslim law because Criminology is relatively easy and paper is usually bookish, its been scoring subject since its introduction in CSS. Muslim Law syllabus is short and subject is easy too but the paper most of the time is a bit technical. So, your choice.

Sociology and Gender Studies both are good options if you have interest in it and if you are confident about it.

I hope I was of some help, but which subject to opt is completly upon you, no one can choose the subjects for you as you know your abilities better than anyone. Here is simple advice for you for subjects selection. Go over the syllabus and past papers of subject you are interested in. If you can understand 30-40 % of it, then go for it. Opt those subjects which you think you have an interest in, otherwise you will get bored in due course of time.

Regards.

I have done software engineering but i have also opted IR, IR will help you for Essay, current affairs, Pakistan affairs even if you select International Law, it will cover some of that topics as well. Rather than an optional subjects, it gives much knowledge. Further, before selecting any subject, you can see course outline of that subject and past papers, you will get idea that which is suitable subject for you.
