Subject Selection 2021 IR trends and fear!

Asalam o Alaikum,

Please have a look on my combination and suggest any changes keeping in view of trends

1. International Relations 200
2. Criminology 100
3. Sociology 100
4. European History 100
5. Sindhi 100

after 2019 result, I am afraid of IR but anyhow I have kept in the list.
Please shed some light.
TIA

If you are comfortable with IR, go for it. Being comfortable with any subject means that you have read its syllabus thoroughly, weighed its positive aspects against its negative aspects, and have come up with the following conclusions:
a. I can cover the syllabus in a short period of time.
b. I am genuinely interested in most of the topics in the syllabus.
c. I think I am going to enjoy studying this subject.

This goes for all your other subjects as well. Do NOT follow trends. They are just opinions of different people. There is no way to substantiate why and how a subject is targeted and why in a certain year. IR has been categorized as a subject that has been "targeted" since 2016. However, I have proof of not just others but my self that you can score high if you are well prepared. The reason IR fluctuates in scores is the changing nature of its subject matter. IR changes and shapes itself according to new trends and transformations. Aspirants, however, do not change, neither do academies that burgle students of their money.
There is a method to attempting IR as an exam, and that is to make use of its theoretical base in its every aspect. IR is built around theories; all modern scholars view the international arena in light of these theories and this is what is expected in the exam as well.

As for your other subjects, my advice is same: analyze and then decide which is better for you, not because someone or some academy said so. Trust me, your life will be so much easier if you do.

Hope this helps!!

There are rumors, but I really don't see how these claims can be substantiated. Anyhow, happy preparation and Good Luck!!

FPSC definitely targets subjects ; existence of this is beyond any doubt. Examiner does not want too many students to opt one subject. So, IR remained top priority in the year 2016. After which examiner targeted IR to discourage aspirants opting it. So, by now, a lot of aspirants have shifted from IR and it is safe, as per my assumptions, now to opt IR.
@Muhammad , you will get to know this subject target phenomenon once you take exam for once or twice.

I HAVE taken it.:laughing I wouldn't be engaged in this thread if I hadn't experienced it first hand, and my point remains: where is concrete proof of hanky panky by examiners? If they target IR to discourage hordes of people from opting it, why hasn't anyone ever spoken publicly about it? Why haven't there been instances where people have come out stating that they were wronged? The reason is that people realize after the heat of the result that they had made some mistakes and didn't really do justice to the exam.

Why don't you choose US History instead of European History? That will help you in CA also

They are fine as long as you chose them yourself and not on someone else's opinion. Choosing subjects because people say that they are scoring or easy is not going to help you in the long run. As long as these choices reflect your interest and aptitude, you will be able to do just fine.

This is reality. Let me talk about my personal experience. I took 113 marks,in IR, in the year 2016 when the new syllabus was introduced. I love studying IR and I improved my Preparation, for second attempt, by enhancing my knowledge. My interest in the subject forced me to take masters exams of IR from Uni. Of Sargodha. I took 63% marks in private examination despite of holding business admin degree. I improved my Preparation and attempted papers well , I included diagrams, maps, flow charts ,used jargons in exam and focused both on quality and quantity. Also, ample time was spent on the preparation of MCQs. I believe I did my best in IR and the papers were way better than 2016 IR paper ,but I barely passed IR with 68 marks. I had 12 marks in IR-I and 66 marks in IR-II. That day was one of most shocking days of my life. I still could not accept my marks. Also, one of my friends, who is CSP and IR regular graduate from NDU, got exactly 66 marks in IR1&2. There are thousands of stories like these. People don't come up with their stories because it's useless as people consider that"khud ka exampass Ni hwa to esi batain krty hn" Trends do exist in CSS; this is my experience and I don't force anyone to accept my opinion or not.
